A 38-place day nursery established in purpose-built premises in The Grassroots Community Centre in Memorial Park, off Memorial Avenue. The Grassroots is one of the first Children's Centres to be built in Newham and, in addition to the nursery, offers a full range of Early Start children's services.

The nursery has two separate nursery areas, one for Babies and one for Explorers aged two to five, plus a separate area that is used for créche sessions and mother and toddlers sessions organised by Early Start. The area for Babies includes its own toilets and a nappy-changing facility. The nursery's outside play area is located in a quadrangle surrounded on three sides by the nursery rooms and the créche room.

The Grassroots cafeteria is a good place for a coffee or lunch and meeting rooms are available for hire.

Nursery meals and snacks are prepared and frozen off-site by Yum Yum Foods Ltd, working to menu guidelines prescribed by a consultant nutritionist and dietitian with a Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Meals are then defrosted and prepared to strict guidelines by staff on-site. Our success in weaning babies onto healthy eating has led to parent demand for Yum Yum's nutritious frozen meals to be made available for them to take home when they collect their child and this facility is now available.

Foundations for Learning has pioneered the use of a Single Integrated Curriculum for children from babyhood right through to Pre School. This ground-breaking development has been led by our own in-house teaching staff and our monthly activity plans for all age groups are prepared and delivered under the direction of our Corporate Curriculum Coordinator, who has both nursery education and teaching professional qualifications.
