Nursery child care

Here's what we do at Foundations for Learning to put your mind at ease when leaving your child at nursery.
You will, of course, check out our premises but we also take some important steps to ensure that you know exactly who will be looking after your child and that you are completely confident that you can entrust your child to their care.

We will invite you to meet and get to know three separate individuals:

  • The Personal Carer, with whom you and your child will build a vital relationship.
We understand that this means introducing someone new into your parent-child relationship. Our aim is to develop a coherent setting of adult relationships in the eyes of your child.
  • The Nursery Manager and their Head of Room, who will provide you with two levels of supervision while you are away from your child.

Starting your child at nursery is, in our experience, best handled as a managed transition, phased over time.

Our commitment to working in partnership with you will ensure that:

  • You know what your child will be doing at nursery each day, with a one-page report at the end of the day when you collect them
  • Progress meetings take place every six months to review your child's progress and agree their Individual Learning Plan for the next period
  • You are involved in the planning of future transitions, first from one nursery room to another and then a managed approach to starting their formal schooling
